Online casino rules in British Columbia
In British Columbia, the only legal online casino site is PlayNow.com, which BCLC runs for the province. This page sets out what the law says, how Game Break fits in, and how this guide's paid links work.

What the law says
Gambling in British Columbia is legal only when the provincial government runs it. BCLC manages all commercial gambling in the province, casinos and online gambling included. A private company cannot run legal gambling for BC players outside that system.
For online play, that leaves one address. PlayNow.com is the only legal online gambling site in British Columbia, and BCLC runs it.
Since April 13, 2026, the Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO) regulates all gambling in British Columbia. That takes in the province's casinos and PlayNow.com alike. The office is just as plain about the rest of the internet. It says all other online gambling websites that let BC players in operate illegally in the province.
PlayNow and Game Break
PlayNow.com is BCLC's own online site, and players must be 19 or older. That matches the legal age for all gambling in British Columbia, casinos included.
Game Break is BCLC's voluntary self-exclusion program, with terms of 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or 3 years. A term cannot be changed once chosen. You can enrol in person at any casino with government-issued photo ID. The agreement covers B.C. gambling facilities and PlayNow.com. It does not reach other online sites.
How this guide earns money
This guide earns its money from paid links, and they sit in one place. Only the home page carries them, each one marked Ad. They lead to a private online casino partner that is not named here and can change. The inner pages, this one included, carry none.
That partner is not licensed or regulated in British Columbia. PlayNow limits, Game Break and complaints to the IGCO do not apply there. Gambling Support BC still helps any British Columbia resident, including people affected by a loved one's gambling. The line is 1-888-795-6111, free, confidential and open 24/7.
Links to Cascades Casino Penticton, BCLC, the province and help services are never paid.
